The first Kirby Road School was built in 1869 on a knoll at Kirby Way, just below the present Chase Avenue, for a total of $11,526. The neighborhood continued to grow and the building was vacated in 1910, when the current Kirby Road School was built. The first Kirby Road School was demolished in 1912 for residences.
