FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Echoes of Northside?

A digital archive dedicated to the lost and living buildings of Cincinnati’s Northside neighborhood, sharing stories and photographs of the places that surround residents every day.

What is an "Echo"?

An “Echo” is the term used for the short stories and facts that accompany an image. It provides a brief takeaway to help you learn a bit more about a specific building from the past.

Where does the content come from?

All content, stories, and pictures were gathered from a multitude of sources, including the Cincinnati Public Library, books such as Images of America: Northside by Dann Woellert, and multiple Facebook groups, including the popular “… Only in Northside.” All credits should be attributed on each page for each image unless noted. No copyright infringement is intended, and absolutely no money is being made from this site. I thank all the wonderful sources I was able to access for providing this great information about the Northside neighborhood in Cincinnati. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

How is this different from a typical history archive?

A typical history archive may provide paragraphs and longer-form stories on a topic and offer a wide range of things to learn. “Echoes of Northside” aims to provide short, bite-sized information that gives users a quick takeaway about a specific building in Northside.

Can I contribute my own photos or stories?

Yes, absolutely! Feel free to reach out through our contact page to learn how you can contribute to the project.

Why does preserving Northside’s history matter?

Northside is a neighborhood full of history and stories, especially within its buildings. As time passes and residents move on or pass away, memories and stories of the neighborhood can disappear without a trace. This project aims to preserve those stories for future and current generations, helping foster a stronger connection to the neighborhood and preserve what makes Northside unique.
