The 1800 Elementary School With No Lunch Room

Echo
This postcard shows Salmon P. Chase Elementary School, which opened in 1888 as Northside's fourth public school. Chase had no lunchroom, so children either walked home or ate their lunch on benches in the central hallway. In 1962, tax levy provided funds for the building of Chase-McKie Intermediate School. Chase was vacated in 1979 and now houses condominiums.
