This 1609 Hoffner Street property, recently housing Cecil Lock and Key, was first the Workingman's Building and Savings from 1925 to the 1950s. This German institution helped many of the Hoffner Street church members build homes. It was founded in the 1870s as the Cumminsville German Building and Savings Company. Former presidents were John Bruckman (1829-1887), August Gulow, and Gabriel Dirr (1838-1909). It was brought in the 1980s by the Brentwood Savings and Loan.
